It has been such an interesting time since Uranus changed signs and entered its ingress into Taurus on the day of the New Moon in Taurus, which occurred on May 15, 2018. Uranus, the planet of brilliance and surprise, entered Taurus for the time time in eighty four years. The last time that Uranus transited in the sign of Taurus was from June 6, 1934 on and off through May 14, 1942.
Uranus is the great Awakener of the zodiac, and it shakes us up and wakes us up to elevate our consciousness. Uranus is the higher octave of Mercury, which is the planet of communication and ideas. Uranus wants to enlighten us to new ways of thinking and new ways of doing things. It is an irreverent planet that does things on its own terms.
When Uranus was in Aries on and off from Spring of 2010 through May of this year, the focus was very much on Aries themes: beginnings, alacrity and speed, pioneering, youth, and self. Uranus in Aries was the era of selfies, but it also enabled people to make huge leaps in connecting with others through Social Media to propel small businesses and brands.
The focus, though, got to be much more of a narcissistic theme in which people got so focused on capturing the moments that sped by, that they did not appreciate the brief, ephemeral second that they sought to capture on film in the very first place. I wonder where all of those selfies are from 2014, and how much do they really matter now? People became so consumed with connecting through technology that they started to lose connection altogether. Uranus rules technology among other things. With the focus so consumed on self, the focus on others started to lose connectivity.
Now that Uranus is in the fixed earth sign of Taurus, it begs the question for each of us as to what really matters? What is of value to you? Taurus is a slow moving, fixed earth sign, which is ruled by Venus. By nature, it is inflexible. Uranus is chaos, and it has no routine. Uranus in Taurus will wake all of us up to focusing less on ourselves and much more on Mother Earth. Taurus rules nature, beauty, love, how we earn money, what we value, our possessions, and what we love.
While we may not be able to hold in our possessions quite in the way way we want with Uranus in Taurus, hopefully we learn to get the most of what we value without having to be strictly attached to it? Many people hold on to things that they once loved but no longer use, and it fills up space. These things could be so valuable to someone else who could learn from them or just enjoy them, and it opens a new space for the original owner.
I just read an interesting article by J.D. Roth that appeared in my feed entitled \”The Cluttered lives of the America middle class.\” Although this was written last year, and it is focused on the American middle class, I think it is applicable to most of us in that we hold on to so many things that we no longer need. The article states that average Americans have more possessions per household than any other society in global history, which is mind boggling. Maybe Uranus will wake us up to finding value outside of our possessions.
Uranus is such an innovative and ingenious planet, and the energy shift has been palpable since it changed signs on May 15, 2018. Uranus rules how we connect, networks, organizations, friends, acquaintances, and electronics. A lot more people will be wanting to take breaks from technology and reconnect in real time and in real life. Many will want to take time to be in nature and reconnect with the earth. You can wait an hour for that text. You can wait until tomorrow morning to respond to that email and actually make some sense when you stop for a moment to think of what you say.
There have been many powerful endings and new beginnings with Uranus changing signs. Uranus brings flashes of brilliance out-of-nowhere, and a lot of ideas run rampant. Venus, which rules the sign of Taurus is currently out-of-bounds, and it has been since May 5, 2018 and will be through June 7, 2018. This augments the Venusian theme of Taurus and Uranus being in a Venus ruled sign. It emphasizes creativity, desire, indulgence, pleasure, and joy.
Now is a time you can create new habits that stick, as Taurus is a fixed Earth sign, so think with focus about what you want to plant and grow now. Uranus will re-enter Aries on November 7, 2018 and will finish its fun in the Cardinal fire sign of Aries on March 7, 2019. This summer and fall give us a foreshadowing of what we can invent and create these next eight years with Uranus in Taurus.
