Solar Eclipse in Capricorn: Building new structures.

Hi, Everyone,

We begin the New Year with a cosmic punch! There is tremendous Cardinal energy, planetary shifts, and a Partial Solar Eclipse in Capricorn. It is time to get to work! Mars is the planet which represents action, drive, and passion. It is a traditional Malefic that represents anger — sometimes to the point of cruelty and rage. Mars changed signs last night at 9:20 pm EST and entered the Cardinal fire sign of Aries, where it is in its rulership and is very potent.

Mars at 0 degrees of Aries is at the world axis, and this amplifies the energy. We feel it very strongly on a collective level, as the world axis is just as it sounds: it affects the world. We also feel it on an individual level. Mars rules the sign of Aries, so it is an excellent placement for achievement. Mars is also very incendiary at 0 degrees of Aries, which is a critical degree, so you need to be mindful that tempers can flare in the next few days. Just ask my friend that called me without thinking at 2 AM!

Mars takes approximately two years to orbit the sun. it has not been in the sign of Aries since January 29, 2017. Mars will remain in Aries through February 15, 2019, and it gives a lot of speed and action. It also adds more fire to the sky!

Another key component of this week is that Uranus, the planet of upheaval, chaos, change, and brilliance, stations direct at 28 degrees of Aries on January 6, 2019 at 3:27 pm EST. Whenever a planet stations direct or retrograde, the energy of that planet is magnified the five days before and after the station. Unexpected events and heightened disruption can occur in the next few days. As Nat King Cole used to sing, \”Straighten up and fly right.\” You might feel off track with this shift so try to stay on course.

Uranus is the wild card of the zodiac. Like Mars, it can be violent, incredibly reactive, and explosive. It also represents the higher level of consciousness and can lead you to a whole other plane of ingenuity if you allow it. Uranus is the higher octave of Mercury.

Uranus is completing its journey in Aries and will change signs and enter the fixed earth sign of Taurus on March 7, 2019 where it will remain through April 27, 2026. Think back to what was happening at end of April and early May of 2018. You are returning to some of those themes and finishing up that story. Uranus in Aries affects society. It is pioneering, youthful, and enterprising. It is also egocentric and can verge on narcissism.

As I have said several times before, Uranus in Aries was the era of selfies. With Uranus in Taurus, it is time to reflect on values, the earth, and new ways to innovate something meaningful. It is also time to slow down and stop focusing on self. Uranus is in its fall in Taurus and does not like being there, as Taurus is a fixed earth sign that does not want change. Uranus evokes a lot of change.

Unfortunately, there will be more natural disasters with Uranus in Taurus, as Taurus rules Mother Earth. There will be growth, innovation, and technology in industries devoted to repairing the earth and the environment. Taurus also represents the banking system and how we earn money. There were glimpses of this in the past year with Bitcoin and other new forms of currency emerging in the forefront.

The banking system will change a lot in the next seven years, and there will be both chaos and brilliance in this shift. There is a lot of ingenuity with new ways to make money, so it is imperative that you focus on the brilliance and inspiration of Uranus. How can you innovate new ways to create and earn money? What are new ways in which you can save money?

Uranus rules technology, networking, friendships, and groups. Social Media and the platforms in which we connect will also change. Since Uranus entered the Cardinal Fire sign of Aries in 2010, there was expedient growth in technology and Social Media that allowed many to become entrepreneurs and connect with customers and audiences that they never would have imagined they could reach.

People became more isolated as the journey continued. Perhaps we will connect more in person, as Uranus in Aries has produced a very disconnected and lonely society that is much too self-obsessed. Aries is the sign of self. Time to get out of your head and connect with others during turbulent times. We need each other more than ever.

The New Year begins with no planets retrograde, which means it is time to move full steam ahead! No more stalling. Last year in January, the theme was the same. There were several planets in Cardinal signs, which are the signs that gets things done, and there were no planets retrograde. Now, it is even more critical to take action and accomplish your goals.

Last year, Saturn was in the newly placed sign of Capricorn, which is the sign it rules. Saturn in Capricorn is like the judgment card in Tarot. It makes you face things you need to face. You need to be accountable for your actions with Saturn. Saturn rules karma. There are many things in the world that you cannot control right now; therefore, it is critical of being conscious of what you can control and what you wish to achieve.

Saturn in Capricorn is about accomplishment, achievement, status, and honors. Be honorable in your actions. Saturn is commitment. Things that you commit to or do during critical Saturn cycles can have results that last several years. It can dictate your fate in many ways. Saturn is in another decan of Capricorn this year and is starting to pair with Pluto in Capricorn, which is about transforming structures. It is about upleveling power in an ethical manner.

On January 5, 2019, there is a Partial Solar Eclipse that occurs at 8:28 pm EST at 15 degrees of Capricorn. A solar Eclipse is a powerful new moon, which feels like a New Moon on steroids. It is a time to begin new projects, manifest new opportunities, and plant new seeds. It is a highly potent New Moon. For the New moon or Full moon to be an Eclipse, the Sun and moon must be within fifteen degrees of the Nodal axis. Eclipses occur every six months, and they induce a lot of activity and change in whatever area of your chart that they occur.

The Solar Eclipse chart has Virgo Ascendant, which means that Mercury rules the chart. Virgo ascendant is a rising sign that represents the everyday person and is a sign of being of service to others. The theme of this Solar Eclipse chart is helping others, working hard, and focusing on healthy habits and outines to include in your daily regimen. Virgo rules hard work and healthy habits.

The sign of Virgo is an intellectual earth sign that focuses on communication and hard work. Write down your intentions on New Year\’s Day but also on the New moon Eclipse, as you can really manifest your intentions powerfully with a Solar Eclipse!

This Solar Eclipse also really defines the theme of this year, which is the Saturn in Capricorn story and the pairing of Saturn and Pluto. The Sun and The Moon are conjunct at 15 degrees of the Cardinal Earth sign of Capricorn. If you have any planets or angles between 12 and 18 degrees of the Cardinal signs, you will feel this Eclipse very strongly. The Cardinal signs are Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn. Whether or not it impacts you directly, you will feel the energy strongly. Focus on what you want to construct in 2019.

The Eclipse chart has seven points in Capricorn, and this means it is time to get busy. Mercury, which is the ruler of this Eclipse chart is at 1 degree of Capricorn. This also falls at the world axis, which means there could be some big news that emerges in January of this year. Words are powerful. Choose your words carefully.

Jupiter, the planet of hope and optimism, is in its rulership in Sagittarius. This give us hope, wisdom, and laughter. Jupiter is exalted in the fourth house of home, family, and emotional foundation. It forms a beautiful sextile to Neptune in Pisces, which is very manifesting energy. There is hope. There is security, although it feels evasive. You can find your way home.

Venus, which is the smaller benefic of the zodiac, is in its detriment in Scorpio; but, it is also on the angle of home and family. It is inconjunct Uranus in Aries, so there are adjustments that are needed. It also forms a beautiful trine to The North Node in Cancer, which means you can foster that love and security. You can build and nurture a new home and foundation. Again, there is hope in this karmic storm.

There are ten points in Cardinal signs, which underscore once again the need to take action and work towards your goals. There are four planets in their rulerships, which means that is an unforgettable time in history. Mars is in its home sign in Aries; Jupiter is in its home sign in Sagittarius; Saturn is in its home sign in Capricorn; Neptune is in its home sign of Pisces.

In 2019, there will be much restructuring and readjustment. This is also a time when you can actualize your goals and dreams with work and imagination. The Solar Eclipse in Capricorn is an incredibly powerful new moon, which begets new beginnings. However, the South Node in Capricorn means that there are things you must release in order to structure your future path. I conclude my long winded Astrological opus with one of the longest and most significant opening sentences in literature. I think it is quite fitting for this time in which we are living.

\”It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way — in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only\”

— Charles Dickens, \”A Tale of two Cities\”
