New Moon in Cancer: Napping in Neptune’s night

What a mixture of emotions, dreams, nightmares, fear, and magic?! Neptune, which rules the imagination and the unconscious mind, stationed retrograde on June 28, 2022 at 3:55 AM EDT at 25 degrees and 26 minutes of the Mutable Water Sign of Pisces. We feel the buildup five days beforehand and five days afterwards. Neptune represents spirituality, compassion, intuition, psychic ability, art, music, film; as well as self undoing, confusion, delusion, deception, and fear.
Neptune retrogrades once per year for approximately five months per years, so it is essentially retrograde for almost of the year. However, when an outer planet stations either retrograde or direct, the qualities and characteristics of that planet are magnified tenfold. On one hand, you can feel very creative, inspired, and content. On the other hand, Neptune can exaggerate your fears, and things may not be as they appear. This will pass, but the Neptune haze is very strong through July 3, 2022. Make sure to get enough time to rest, practice self care, journal your dreams, and listen to music.
Neptune cycles or emphasis can make things seems elusive and difficult to grasp. Yet, they can also enhance your intuition. To truly manifest, you must suspend disbelief and work with your unconscious mind: anything is truly possible. This is a phenomenal time to journal your thoughts, dreams, fears, uncertainties, and anything that comes to mind.
The Sun in Cancer forms a square to Jupiter, the Grand Benefic, at 8:59 pm EDT. This is not a negative energy even though it can be excessive. I think this combination definitely expands and adds to all of the mysticism, heightened intuition, fear, and collective excess. Jupiter is the ancient ruler of Pisces, and Neptune is the modern ruler.
Jupiter represents the vision; Neptune represents the dream. Things will seem far more emotional and confusing than normal. I will say it again — manifest, manifest, manifest! If it is five minutes of chanting, singing, dancing, working in your garden, or whatever speaks to you, this is the time to work with infinite magic in a world that seems it is forever lost. My name is not Pollyanna, and I will not tell you there is there is one panacea to heal all of our pain. I will tell you there is love, magic, and healing available to all of us, and the magic is real!
I know many have felt exhausted in the past few days, and I know there is so much loss and pain. Today is the day of The New Moon in Cancer, and the moon is in its dignity. The Cardinal water sign of Cancer is ruled by the Moon and focuses on home, family, security, emotional foundation, and real estate. This adds so much more water to the sky.
Downpours of dreams and lives washed away never ever to return. Neptune’s tears try to cleanse our pain; but, I can only try to smile at Neptune’s naive attempts. There are faded stains and faded tears. Those shattered fragments of lives and dreams are with us forever more. They are part of our past, present, and future. We need to create new dreams, love, and miracles in their honor.
Incidentally, Neptune stations at 25 degrees of the Mutable Water Sign of Pisces, which is the degree at which the Lunar Eclipse occurred on September 16, 2016. Perhaps, there were things you were releasing in your life at that time, or things that got dissolved.
The New Moon occurs today at 10:52 pm EDT at 7 degrees and 22 minutes of the Cardinal Water Sign of Cancer. The Moon loves being in the sign of Cancer, as it is in its rulership. The Moon is Cancer is a very nurturing moon. The New Moon is always an excellent time for planting new seeds, setting new intentions, and doing the Law of Abundance to bring in prosperity.
I cast the New Moon chart for Washington DC, and it has Aquarius Rising, which emphasizes the need for community, enlightenment, and connection. It also indicates protests and rebellions. Aquarius is the sign of the nonconformist and the rebel. Eris, the goddess of discord and the warrior feminine is in Aries — just a degree of from Mars. She always happens to be Mars’ sister. A lot of warrior feminine energy in the house of values. A lot of Cardinal fire very strong and triggered.
Mars, the god of war, will clash with Pluto, the planet of power, death, and regeneration, on July 1, 2022 at 10:14 pm EDT. I remember a teacher telling me years ago that we often feel Mars aspects before they become exact. I remember I was going to my teacher’s class for a lesson, and Mars was just within a degree from my angle of home, and I hit my head on my kitchen island. That was a direct lesson of how you can feel Mars before it is exact. Nothing teaches you better than a hit on the head.
In this case, we feel the exasperation of Mars build-up this week. Mars and Pluto are both the rulers of Scorpio, and there could be major endings or blowups with that energy on Thursday and Friday. You can only control your own actions; but, use this as a reminder to do a little more meditating, exercising, and ways of quelling your own stress this week.
Mercury is still transiting in Gemini, which is the sign it rules and where it is so mentally agile. Mercury forms a helpful aspect to Saturn, planet of structure and stability, on July 2, 2022 at 6:39 AM EDT. This is a positive aspect for communication and getting work done. Mercury also makes a more challenging aspect in that it clashes with Neptune, planet of fantasy, on July 2, 2022 at 4:53 pm EDT.
If you are with people that are open minded to metaphysics or doing new things, a great use of this would be to do a vision board together or do group affirmations where each of you speaks out a few things that you want to magnetize in to your life, and the others say it aloud for you to bring more power to your words.
Work with crystals, burn palo santo or sage. Do some kind of a cool ritual that clears space for the new and eliminates old, toxic energy. With the Neptune energy so strong and guided, you can feel others’ energy more intensely sometimes. There are miracles and wonders available to us, and love is the connector in all of this. You can work magic with your friends — especially those that you know hold your intentions for you, and that you can share their joy with them.
In the United States, this is a holiday weekend and obviously a bit of a heated and an emotional one, so fun things like this would be a great use. Neptune in Pisces rules music, and that is always incredibly manifesting and unifying energy! Music is love! Yoga and other forms of spiritual practice in group capacity or on your own is such a healing way of using all of this — particularly if you are lucky enough to be by the water!
