New Moon in Virgo: Thoughts become things.
It is unbelievable to write this article at this very time. It is September 13, 2020, and the Fall Equinox is only a week away. Saturn has ruled this historical year of Saturn Collapsing of old structures, and it also rules time itself. Time has ceased to exist in normal patterns for most people in this year of massive restructuring and rebirth.
This year has been uncharted for many reasons. We will never experience this much Capricorn again in our lifetime. Capricorn is a cardinal earth sign that deals with Karma, structures, limits, time, responsibility, and challenges. At the beginning of the year, Jupiter, the South Node, Saturn, and Pluto were all transiting in the sign of lock-down. We have had to grow, function, and rebuild within confining circumstances. We are all reconciling collective karma in so many different directions.
The restrictive nature of Saturn, which rules this stellium of planets in Capricorn, has had all of us operating in some form of a holding pattern. One of the keywords of Saturn is restrictions. We have dealt with plenty of restrictions since the beginning of the year. However, Capricorn that forces people to build character because it requires that we build character and work within the limits. Capricorn is a Cardinal sign that is highly ambitions and seeks to exceed the limits and launch goals. Cardinal signs are the signs that begin seasons and catalyze things in our own lives. The Cardinal signs are Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn.
In spite of all of these restrictions and because all of this Cardinal emphasis, we have been able to achieve tremendous feats this year: people conducting meetings worldwide through Zoom, parents educating their kids with their teachers remotely, musicians virtually busking, and the list continues. However, it is not a world of any of us would have intentionally manifested. It is alienated, lonely, and inorganic.
Now we are all dealing with the Mars retrograde story. Mars, the planet of action, recently stationed retrograde on September 9, 2020 at 28 degrees of the Cardinal Fire sign of Aries and will station direct on November 13, 2020 at 15 degrees of Aries. Saturn is about to station direct at 25 degrees of the Cardinal Earth sign of Capricorn on September 30, 2020. The two are fighting in the sky. Saturn is holding back a very frustrated Mars in Aries that hates being retrograde. Mars will be dragging until the beginning of October as it moves with Saturn.
This is not easy energy. Mars only retrogrades once every two years, and it is the planet of passion and vitality. Currently, people could feel depressed, unmotivated, tired, and stonewalled. In a year, where you have had to produce so much on so little, it is understandable that you need to recharge a bit. However, a lot of people do not have that choice right now.
Take micro steps to recharge. Return to healthy habits with Mars retrograde, as does rule our energy. Mars retrograde is an excellent time to return to an exercise or meditation program. This is a cosmic pause that we are all experiencing. There is no choice but to surrender to certain delays and work harder on things where you feel at a temporary impasse.
When Mars and Saturn impact one another, it is an excellent time to accomplish painstaking tasks that require a lot of patience and determination. That is the kind of energy this month has. It may not fun or exciting, but it is productive when you dedicate a lot of time and focus to achieving something with Saturn square Mars. Time is a funny thing. When there is no rush for something, it can be pleasant, and you hope to be in the moment every now and then. There is no rush of cortisol. You get to relax and breathe. You dream of a future when things are even better, and of all the amazing things that can be!
When life is tough, you yearn for the past, which may not have been that good. Even worse, you can become haunted by the past — especially if it really was that good, or by the choices that you did or did not make. When you are stuck, it can feel really hard to dream and aspire for a future that feel is impossible.
