New Moon of Aquarius: The first new moon of a decade.
Hi, Everyone,
I sit down to write today\’s column and realize that this month feels like several bunched into one. We began the year in Eclipse season with a remarkable stellium of planets in Capricorn.
The Cardinal earth sign of Capricorn represents many things: karma, responsibility, accountability, boundaries, integrity, and structures. Capricorn also rules time and impresses on us how little of it we really have.
At the end of 2019, there was a partial South Node Eclipse at 4 degrees of Capricorn. Although a Solar eclipse is a new moon, there is a releasing aspect to it with the South Node conjunct the sun and the moon. Many exits and endings have occurred since end of fall.
The month of January initiated a new year and a new decade.
There was a Lunar Eclipse on January 10, 2020 at 20 degrees of Cancer. This Eclipse set off where Saturn, the planet of karmic lessons, stationed retrograde on April 30, 2019. It was also where Pluto, the planet of transcendence, stationed direct on September 18, 2019.
See how those stories are carrying forward now in light of this Eclipse trigger. What have you put to rest from last spring and last fall, and to what have you given more form and commitment? Uranus, the wild child of the zodiac, stationed direct on the day of the Lunar Eclipse. This made feel like two eclipses in one.
The big news of the month was the Saturn/Pluto conjunction that occurred just two days after the Lunar Eclipse. They met up at 22 degrees of Capricorn and were conjunct the sun and Mercury. This helped to translate the Saturn/Pluto story that marked a new 36 year cycle. The last time these two paired up was in November of 1982 in Libra. They last met up in Capricorn in 1517.
Saturn and Pluto are the traditional malefics. When they meet up, it is a cosmic renovation. The lessons that come up now are not to be ignored. Saturn and Pluto will not be conjunct again this year, but this alignment marks a new story for a new decade.
How will you work with integrity and heed the lessons? Are you going to renovate and repair, or are you going to ignore? Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn will not allow you to hide from your lessons. So much to take in a relatively brief; but, so much to work with in terms of achievement, accomplishment, and self renovation. There are no planets retrograde in the sky, which means they are at full capacity. Charge forward with cardinality towards that you wish to accomplish.
The Sun is now in the fixed air sign of Aquarius; as is Mercury, the planet of information. Mercury clashed with Uranus on January 18, 2020 and brought some surprises. Yesterday, the Sun in Aquarius clashes with Uranus in Taurus and brought some more unexpected news. At present, the moon is in Capricorn and is translating the tales of the recent Eclipses and the Saturn/Pluto meetup. This is heavy stuff.
I heard a few unexpected stories yesterday. I choose to share one to honor both Manhattan and a native, who embodied its spirit. I discovered last night that a former neighbor of mine had passed away unexpectedly of Cancer in November, and that his wife had passed away only a few months before.
His name was Peter, and he owned a piano store in Hell\’s Kitchen. He was a local business owner and a true New Yorker. I did not know him very well. As two native New Yorkers, we shard that familiar nod on the street. It\’s hard to explain, but I felt warmth and humor from someone that I would speak to for just a few minutes.
Bondy owned a small piano store that is also a dying breed in a city that needs much reconstruction and repair. So many barren storefronts these days, but he remained a thriving small business on a side street. Every time someone like Bondy dies, a piece of its history dies.
We are finishing up Eclipse season, as we prepare for the New Moon in Aquarius that occurs on January 24, 2020. As the moon in Capricorn brings more information to light, it is time to plan full action with your goals, your lessons, and the new life you are renovating and reconstructing.
Venus is exalted in Pisces and forms a beautiful sextile to Jupiter in Capricorn today. This helps to bring hope to that you wish you create and manifest. The New moon falls at 4 degrees of Aquarius on January 24, 2020 at 4:42 pm EST. This New Moon is a time to set intentions and initiate new beginnings. This New Moon falls in the seventh house of relationships and forms a square to Uranus. A lot of new relationships and connections will begin with this New Moon energy.
However, in light of what has occurred recently, this new moon will also bring some unexpected breakups and shakeups. Uranus brings unexpected change. Factor in that Mars in Sagittarius forms a square to Venus, the planet of relationships, on January 26, 2020. This can bring friction and fighting. The following day, Venus meets up with Neptune in Pisces. A lot of secrets, deceit, and information will get uncovered.
There will inevitably be some breakups and endings, as Neptune can dissolve things. However, the higher form of Neptune rules dreams and imagination. Tap into what you want to manifest in 2020. This new moon in Aquarius wants you to connect with new people, learn new things, and engage in the world. Focus on your dreams and your desires with the Venus/Neptune conjunction. It was a very sobering beginning to the year, but that is more reason to focus on what you love.
The New Moon in an excellent time to do the Law of Abundance. Take a blank check and date it for January 24, 2020. Print out your name where it says, \”Pay to the order of,\” and then leave the small numeric box blank. Print on the next line, \”PAID IN FULL.\” At the bottom where you normally sign your name, print \”The Law of Abundance. I wish you much luck and happiness.
In honor of Peter and Heidi Bondy, who were part of what made New York great. This new moon is for you!
