New Moon in Leo: Turn on your Love Light!

There is so much to discuss, but I will break it down in parts. I have to say in advance that I have been swimming against, with, and towards Neptune far more than I have liked in these past few months, and I am wading in a pool of vulnerability and depression to which many can relate. If my writing is not linear, it is because I am channeling, drowning in, and feeling the Astrology — especially Neptune at the final degree of the Zodiac.
A New Moon in Leo occurred today at 7:13 am est at 12 degrees and 34 minutes of the Fixed fire sign of Leo. Look to where that falls in your chart, and that is where you are experiencing a sense of new beginnings. The sun is in its dignity while in Leo, and this is a much needed New Moon in a time where most people feel lost, scared, or uncertain.
On July 31, 2024, The Sun in Leo formed a beautiful angle to the North Node in Aries. This was a message to connect with others and to have courage to be yourself and not to forget your passions and what makes you shine. On August 1 and August 2, 2024, Mars in Gemini formed a postive angle to the North North Node and urged us all to take action to network, align with what you are trying to create, and to have a sense of purpose when things seem so chaotic.
Much more chaos ensues in the month of August; as well as creativity and new solutions. This is a cosmic nudge for all to have courage to fight for what you want, learn, and not give up on your passions. When I was little, I did not like to eat a lot of my food and could be a bit picky. My mother would laugh and lightly tap my plate with a fork both to rile me up and to get me to eat. The Universe is tapping your plate, and it is time to eat up the opportunities that emerge in this cosmic kaleidoscope of change.
The New Moon in Leo has it Sun in its dignity, and it’s got the moves like Jagger. The Sun absolutely loves being in the sign of Leo and is unstoppable. We should all take a page from that now with Neptune at the Fixed Star of Scheat, where we could all be drowning in sorrow if we do not lean towards the light of Leo.
I cast the chart for the New Moon for Washington DC, and the Sun and Moon in Leo fall in the 12th house of spirituality, creatitivity, compassion, and rest. The Sun forms a helpful trine to the North Node in Aries, although it is separating, and it says to reach for the stars. The Sun and Moon are also inconjunct Saturn in Pisces, which means there is readjustment needed to achieve the dream. Neptune in Pisces ultimately is the dream. Perhaps, you have been dimming your own light and losing sight of your own value.
Venus changes signs later at 10:23 pm EST and ingresses into the Mutable earth sign of Virgo, where she will nitpick, finetune, and organize through August 29, 2024. In the New Moon chart, Venus is at the Fixed Star known as Regulus and is at the Final degree of Leo, where she is hot and on fire! Regulus is the King maker and the Queen maker, and it is a point where she rise in position in life.
Venus at Regulus is a lovely place to be; but, it is also inconjunct Neptune in Pisces, which is at that very challenging Fixed Star known as Scheat. Scheat is connected with self-undoing, addiction, and drowning. It is imperative that we all pay attention to Neptune at the final degree of the Zodiac, where he will be on and off through early 2026 because there is a huge mental health epidemic.
Scheat is a Fixed Star at 28 degrees and 29 degrees of Pisces. It is connected with suicide, addiction, and drowning. Kurt Cobain, who was a Pisces took his life when Saturn was last in Pisces and had his natal Saturn at the Fixed Star of Scheat. Saturn is the planet of responsibility, restrictions, and karmic lessons.
Marilyn Monroe also suffered from addiction problems. She had Uranus, the planet of chaos, disruption, and originality at Scheat. Drew Barrymore, who has conquered her addiction issues, is a Pisces with her Venus, at Scheat. Venus is the planet of love, creativity, and relationships, she has worked with the creative side both in her acting and in her love of makeup and glamour. I know two people in particular, who have their Sun at Scheat, and they are natural wonders in their kindness, generosity, and endless creativity. There is incredible wisdom at the end of the Zodiac, but there is also so much pain from the lessons endured.
Neptune is in its dignity in Pisces and is also the higher Octave of Venus. Venus in Leo at the Royal Fixed Star of Regulus wants you to glow, yet there is something that needs soothing. There is healing needed around love, self value, loss, and the heart chakra.
Venus is also separating from her duel with Uranus in Taurus, which is at yet another Fixed Star known as Algol. The Fixed Star of Algol is at 26 degrees of Taurus and is connected both literally and metaphorically with losing one head. A lot of people are losing their cool, their sanity, and their stability. A New Moon in Leo is just what we need to bring hope with all of these Fixed Stars so prevalent in the sky — particularly Scheat and Algol, which are both very difficult.
Venus enters Virgo at 10:23 pm EST and brings more energy to the Mercury in Retrograde story, as this is yet another planet ruled by Mercury. Mercury rules the mutable signs of Gemini and Virgo. Venus is in her Fall position in Virgo, as she rules the opposite sign of Pisces. She is critical while in Virgo, but she is excellent for paying attention to the details, finecombing your work and projects, and cleaning up the mess. Venus helps with this celestial mess through August 29, 2024 when she enters her home sign of Libra and puts on the charm.
Venus in Virgo helps with the Mercury Retrograde journey because if you really apply yourself to improving the issues that surface during this very reflective retrograde, you can build momentum with whatever you strive to achieve.
Mars, the planet of action, is transiting in the Mercury driven sign of Gemini through September 4, 2024. Mars is how you get things done, how you work, and how you move ahead. Jupiter, the planet of expansion and abundance, transits in Gemini through June 9, 2024. This means that as of late tonight/early tomorrow, there will be four planets transiting in signs ruled by Mercury, and this is a HUGE time for reassessing what works, and what does not.
This is a time to reflect, hear from ghosts from the past, and reevaluate what no longer serves you. With Mars in Gemini, there is the chance that you may do things twice, or you may have more than one option. Gemini is like the Lovers card in Tarot, in which there are choices. You may think over those choices you have made and do things in a different way.
Mercury retrogrades on 8/4/24 at 9:56 pm PST and on 8/5/24 at 12:56 am EST at 4 degrees and 7 minutes of Virgo. When Mercury retrogrades in its domicile, it intensifies the energy of Mercury retrograde and brings home the issues in a much more potent way.
This is an invitation to reconsider, reorganize, revise, remake, and return to habits, work, and routines that gives your life purpose. Venus is also a personal planet and adds to the theme of paying attention to the details, which has been so hard with both Saturn and Neptune copresent in Pisces, where we can float all over the place.
We are building up to a very big mutable T square that occurs the second half of August, and in which we have one of three challenging squares from Jupiter (expansion) in Gemini to Saturn (restrictions) in Pisces. How do we expand but stay centered? How do we structure dreams when we feel lost without a captain? The North Node in Aries wants YOU to be the captain. We are about to find out how to steer this journey of self discovery in unprecedented times.
Mercury ingresses back into the Fixed fire sign of Leo on August 14th, which is the day that Mars meets up with Jupiter. Mars is the planet of drive, ambition, war, aggression, and passion. Jupiter magnifies whatever it touches. This is an aspect of good fortune, but it could also expand the aggressive energy so potent in the world. When Mercury returns to Leo, it is time to rediscover what makes your heart happy, how you can emanate love, and how you can reconnect to your passions.
Mercury stations direct on August 28, 2024 at 21 degrees and 34 minutes of Leo. Mercury initially entered its shadow when it reached 21 degrees of Leo on July 17, 2024. Mercury remains in Leo until it ingresses back into the sign of Virgo on September 9, 2024, where it will remain through September 26, 2024. Mercury retrogrades in Virgo, which is a time to perfect things through your work, your searching within, and focusing on your health and habits. Mercury retrograde in Leo is a time to readdress how you sparkle, and you know you do!
This a New Moon that bursts with possibility while in the very confident sign of Leo; but, there are adjustments needed and much reflection ahead. This is like Spring cleaning when it is 100 degrees outside, but it is also your time to take good care and prepare for a lot of movement and action later in the month, which I will cover more in depth soon. The New Moon is an excellent time to write down intentions, do a manifesting ritual on your own or with people you love, and to do the Law of Abundance.
To do the Law of Abundance, take a blank check and date it for August 4, 2024. Where it says, “Pay to the order of, ” write down your full name. Leave the small numeric box empty. On the following line, where you normally print out the amount, write, “Paid in Full.” Where you normally sign your name at the bottom of the check, print, “The Law of Abundance.” I wish you much luck in this cosmic karmic review!
